Our story

A small shop in Washington, built one job at a time.

M&M Mechanical Inc. opened in 1992. Washington was a much smaller town then. Telegraph Street had stoplights you could count on one hand, and the population of the entire St. George metro was a fraction of what it is now. The HVAC trade in Southern Utah was mostly a handful of family-run shops, and we were one of the smaller ones.

The early years were the kind of work that defined the company. Residential AC swaps in older neighborhoods, gas furnace installs in homes that had been heating with oil or wood, and the occasional commercial rooftop on a downtown St. George storefront. By 1996, we'd outgrown the original shop and built the current building on Rio Virgin Drive, the address still on every truck. The same family that put up that building still answers the phone.

Three decades later, we've worked on essentially every era of HVAC equipment that's ever been installed in Southern Utah. The 1970s gravity furnaces in old Washington Fields. The R-22 split systems we put in during the 90s and replaced with R-410A units in the 2010s. The modern variable-speed inverter units and ductless mini-splits going into custom homes in Kayenta and Desert Color this year. That long tail of experience is the actual product. When a tech walks into your mechanical room, they've probably seen the exact configuration before, because they probably installed it.

Most of our calls today come from repeat customers, their kids, and the people they sent our way. That's not an accident. It's the result of thirty years of decisions about how to do the work: decisions about not selling people what they don't need, about not running on commission, about answering the phone after hours when an AC fails in July.

What we do

Commercial. Residential. Industrial.

Most HVAC shops pick a lane. We've never done that. Our crew runs the gamut: a Saturday emergency call on a single-family home in Bloomington, a tenant improvement build-out for a new restaurant on Main Street, a 30-ton rooftop replacement on an industrial warehouse in Hurricane.

That breadth keeps us sharp. Commercial work forces our techs to stay current on rooftop units, control systems, and gas line code. Residential work keeps us close to the homeowners who built the business. New construction keeps our duct design and load calculation skills current.

Our standards

How we run the company.

The trade has changed a lot in three decades. A few of our principles haven't.

Licensed & insured in Utah

We're a Utah-licensed HVAC contractor, fully bonded and insured. Our installs pass inspection the first time because we follow code and we don't cut corners on rough-ins.

Manufacturer-trained technicians

Our techs hold current EPA 608 universal refrigerant certifications and ongoing factory training across Carrier, Trane, Mitsubishi, and the other major brands we install. The trade evolves; so does our team.

No commission salespeople

Nobody on our team earns a commission on selling you a system. Quotes come from the technician who looked at your equipment, not a closer in a polo shirt who was driven over after the diagnosis.

Plain-English explanations

If we recommend a part or a system, we'll explain why in language a non-HVAC person can follow. You should never feel rushed into a decision you don't understand.

Meet the team

A small crew that's been doing this a long time.

M&M is a small, tight-knit team: owners, lead technicians, install crew, and the office staff who route the trucks and answer the phones. We keep the company small on purpose. It's how we keep quality consistent across every job and how we keep institutional knowledge in the building instead of in a CRM.

Full bios for the owners and lead techs are coming soon. In the meantime, the best way to meet us is to call the shop and ask. Whoever answers will probably be the same person who picks up next time.
